ABJD (Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls) или BJD
Нередко их называют шарнирные куклы, однако дословный перевод не отражает значения. Куклы BJD (БЖД) это явление, вокруг которого сформировалась особая субкультура. Это игрушечные фигурки, очень пластичные за счет использования множества шарниров. Их внешность совмещает в себе черты живого человека и персонажа мультфильма-аниме. Но самое главное: внешность БЖД можно изменять за счет сменных глаз, париков, одежды и макияжа. Некоторые владельцы БЖД увлекаются радикальными модификациями: заказывают для кукол рога, копыта, эльфийские уши, разрисовывают их татуировками и шрамами. Создателем БЖД считается азиатская фирма Volks, которая выпустила первую такую куклу в 1999 году. Теперь фирм-производителей БЖД уже несколько десятков по всему миру, хотя наибольшее их число по-прежнему в Корее, Китае и Японии.
Производство таких кукол обычно малое, некоторые фирмы состоят из одного-двух человек, поэтому сроки изготовления заказанной и оплаченной куклы могут составлять до полугода.
Основные производители кукол БЖД: Doll In Mind (D.I.M), Dollmore, Dollshe, Dream of Doll (D.O.D), FairyLand, Iplehouse, Limhwa Doll, Luts, Soom (все Корея), Studio Milim (Россия). Как правило, таких кукол заказывают самостоятельно, через посредников или покупают у других коллекционеров. Стоимость новой куклы варьируется от 200 до 800 долларов.

ABJD (Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls) or BJD
Quite often they are called “ball-jointed dolls”, however literal translation doesn’t reflect the meaning. BJD dolls is a phenomenon with the special subculture surrounding it. It’s toy figurines that are very plastic thanks to the big amount of joints. Their appearance combines traits of the real person and anime character. But most importantly, their appearance can be changed due to interchangeable eyes, wigs, outfits and makeup. Some BJD owners like to do drastic changes to their dolls: they order horns for them, hooves, elven ears, draw tattoos and scars on them.
Asian company Volks considered to be origin creators of BJD, releasing first such doll in 1999. Nowadays there are dozens of BJD creation companies all around the world, though most of them are still located in Korea, China and Japan.
Usually, the production of such dolls is fairly small - some companies consist of one to two men - that’s why the creation of the ordered and paid-up doll can take up to half a year.
Main BJD creators are: Doll In Mind (D.I.M), Dollmore, Dollshe, Dream of Doll (D.O.D), FairyLand, Iplehouse, Limhwa Doll, Luts, Soom (all from Korea), Studio Milim (Russia).
